Permalink somehandsomehands: Colin Greenwood. Possibly my favourite bass guitarist. He has the perfect persona, style and presence to be a bassist.He is subtle, he does not show off, he knows his place in the band; the spine. He isn’t the one in the spot light, he isn’t the one who gets all the attention for ridiculously complex paramelodies. He has depth and temperment, he has the most amazing rhythmic and note sense I’ve seen/heard. But he knows when to groove and groove hard and with solidity, climax, swagger and style.  I think a lot of his playing qualities go into a good personality also, I’d like to acquire some of these traits in both my playing and life… I would love to someday be able to compose a bassline similar to one of his; from just about any radiohead song - the qualities of when to come in, tone, presence, dynamic range, rhythm, mode, chromatics, form.
